Alexis Caruso was born in Chicago, Illinois. At the age of four she began her ballet training. She has competed at the renowned Youth America Grand Prix, under Sherry Moray winning the prestigious Hope Award at the age of ten. In 2010 she was accepted into the Joffrey Ballet Trainee Program in Chicago. After a year there she suffered a foot injury, which required foot surgery. Determined to continue to dance, she returned to rehab with her former coach, Sherry Moray from the Academy of Dance Arts. While rehabbing she discovered Pilates. Pilates has helped her gain strength in her core, within her upper and lower body, but also mentally. Once she was able to able to fully recover, she was accepted to be a second company member Ballet Austin. There she performed Swan Lake, Nutcracker & Argelina Pas De Deux. In 2015 she was accepted to become a company member with Nevada Ballet Theatre in Las Vegas. She was grateful to perform the lead in the Nutcracker, as well as perform Balanchine’s, Serenade and “Who Cares.” While in Nevada because of her love for Pilates she became certified in classical Pilates under Elena Bartley. After a long and painful decision to stop dancing, Alexis has returned to Chicago. She is currently attending the College of DuPage majoring in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. She is happy to be able to pass on her knowledge in the studio she trained at and teach pilates as well there.
